Well, it could be worse - one of our three does that to the other two whenever they meow too loudly for his tastes. The only think I can figure is that he mistakes them for females in heat. 0_o

I followed the link from ginmar's. That behavior is sometimes a sign of a urinary tract problem -- either infection or cancer. It could also be a sign he's just a perv.

Ooh, thanks for the tip! I'll ask our vet. I'm hoping he's just a perv. We suspect that's why he ended up in the animal shelter. :/

Also here via ginmar: if it's sexual, well, the brain is the biggest sex-organ in cats too, I guess! So being fixed isn't the end of it ;) But it could also be just a comfort/anxiety loop, no? There's no erect penis, and kneading is common for domestic cats as some sort of inner-kitten-pleasing ritual, as I am sure you know...

Well, whether it's pr0n or not, my Nigel (in icon) is in love with a giant plush lizard my wife has, it's easily three times his size. It's very amusing, though not as much as the poor seal pup. Thanks for sharing the vid!

Also here via [info]ginmar. If it makes you feel any better my parents (who totally win the Uptight About Sex Lifetime Achievement Award) have a cat who masturbates every single night with his string toy on their bed right before they go to sleep. Only, in his case, he has an erect penis to go along with it. All sorts of animals masturbate, many of them just for the enjoyment.

Once you rule out a UTI I'd congratulate him on his, um, complete and total lack of shame. :)

LOL! My long-ago cat Eldridge used to hump a stuffed otter. He, too, was neutered, so I have no idea what drove him to it.

My deceased cat, a neutered male, used to sneak up when I was dozing on the couch or otherwise distracted, wrap his front paws around my ankle and HUMP MY FOOT while biting my sock!!!!

sigh

He was a perve too, but I loved him.
