Two loving cats need a Texas home STAT
A friend of mine desperately needs a home for her two cats by Friday. She is moving to Canada and cannot take them, and was put in this terrible strait due to someone who reneged on a promise to adopt them.

"They're really the sweetest kitties. They take awhile to warm up to strangers, but if you're feeding them the warm up time goes by very quickly. They can't be around large dogs but will tolerate small dogs. They're fine with kids who understand tail pulling is cute the first time and death the second. They're..well they're CATS."

The cats are in Odessa, but I can get them to Austin.

ETA: A nice cat-lover has agreed to give the two kitties a home, so all is well.

I'm so glad they found a home. I'm too far away to help and have four cats already, anyway, but still...stories like this break my heart.

It was just wild how it turned out. You know Texas is a huge-ass state, right? I mean, Big Bend National Park is as big as all of Connecticut. This cat owner is in Odessa. Ginmar posted a plea in her LJ, but I thought for sure I would be the only one in her f-list who could help, even though I'm six hours away. Turns out that one of the other people on Gin's f-list lives in a town relatively (by West Texas standards) close to Odessa and can take the cats. And this person has a Dobie who lurrrrrves cats and likes to take care of kittens. And when this gal can find another place to live, she can return and get her cats back.

Wow. That's about as perfect an ending as you could hope for, especially the woman being able to get her cats back as soon as she finds a new place.

Yeah, including the fact that if the cats can't handle living with dogs, I'd have to drive only 3 hours instead of 6 to go get them. And this is a teeny tiny little ranching town too.

I'm so pleased that this has worked out. (insert another rant on the lines of "don't anyone dare tell me that the Internet can't be a Force for Good")

Hey, I added you so you can keep tabs on the Foster Cats & so if something starts going (even more) crazy in my life I'll have backup in the Kitty Department. I'm trying to do regular updates on them for her so she'll know how they're doing down here.

Cool! I'll add you later today when I have a free moment. I'd be glad to pitch in and help.
